Miner Yuri Korzun detained again for 15 days - went on hunger strike

During the court session Yuri Korzun made a written statement that he was going on an indefinite hunger strike due to "the actual abduction without any grounds, unlawful conduct of administrative proceeding, violation of the rights guaranteed by the Constitution in connection with the exceeded time limit for the consideration of the case, which entails the recognition of the court's decision as having no legal force", wrote the telegram channel "Stachkom Azota".

Earlier, Yuri Korzun had already been placed under administrative detention for participating in an unauthorized mass event (drinking tea in the park). However, after having served this prison sentence, he was not released, but was detained for another 15 days.

In September 2020, miner Yuri Korzun handcuffed himself to some mining equipment at his workplace and was going to stay in the mine until his demands were met. After that he joined the Belaruskali strike. As of today "Belaruskali" strike counting 130 people is the largest in the country.

Shortly before Yuri Korzun was once again taken into custody, he told the journalist of FINANCE.TUT.BY:

"I miss my job and I am sure that in the summer I will be able to return to my workplace without having to think that I work to finance batons, violence and torture of peaceful people."
