CUI BONO? OR NO MAN - NO PROBLEM. DEATH OF LUKASHENKO'S OPPONENTS

1999, an important year for Belarus, was marked by a number of deaths and disappearances of Lukashenka's opponents (we wrote about this).

In 2004, Christos Pourgourides, a special rapporteur of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), investigated these cases and established that SOBR fighters, a Special Rapid Response Unit of the internal troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus, were involved in the disappearance of the opposition, who kidnapped and killed politicians with the knowledge of the country's leadership.

In 2019, a former fighter of the SOBR, the so-called "death squad", Yuri Garavsky, who requested political asylum in Switzerland, spoke about his participation in these crimes. According to him, together with his colleagues, he carried out the order of SOBR commander Dmitry Pavlichenko, who shot Yuri Zakharenko, Viktor Gonchar and Anatoly Krasovsky.

In 2000, these crimes were also investigated in Belarus. The head of the criminal police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Nikolai Lopatik submited a report to the new minister that Yuri Zakharenko had been physically destroyed by Pavlichenko at the direction of Sheiman. The next day after Lopatik's report, the head of the KGB of Belarus Uladzimir Matskevich sent the General Prosecutor an order to detain Pavlichenko. After one day in the KGB pre-trial detention center, Pavlichenko, having shown everyone a very eloquent gesture of the middle finger, was relesed. And the fact that Lukashenko, on the day of Pavlichenko's release, dismissed both the KGB chairman and the prosecutor general, and in his place appointed Sheiman from Lopatik's report, his gray cardinal and his right hand, is very eloquent. And the principle of forensic science coming from Ancient Rome for solving crimes Cui bono? To whom is it a benefit? simply screams about Lukashenka's involvement in these murders.

The confirmation of the facts of forgeries, falsified cases in the Investigative Committee and other executive bodies, which are now being published by BYPOL, are the result of negative selection, which allowed Lukashenka to create a regime "more terrible than fascism". We are following the trail of blood of the formation of this inhuman regime in order to better understand what is happening now.
